18.01.2021 | Turkmenistan has registered Sputnik V vaccine

On January 18, 2021 the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan announced the registration of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine against coronavirus developed by the Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology with the support of the Russian Direct Investment Fund.

Thus, Turkmenistan became the first country in Central Asia to officially approve the use of the Sputnik V vaccine on its territory.

It was another step in the fight against infectious diseases and strengthening scientific and medical multilateral cooperation, to the development of which the Turkmen leader pays great attention, putting forward international initiatives in this area, maintaining active cooperation with specialized structures of the United Nations, including WHO.

Turkmenistan has the greatest respect for the experience of other states that have already created a solid base in the fight against the new threat and share valuable experience in overcoming the negative consequences of the pandemic.

Turkmenistan is also ready to share its successful developments in order to achieve the maximum level of efficiency of joint efforts with other countries and international organizations.

This experience was set forth in the letter addressed by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the WHO, which was circulated as an official document of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly.

It should be noted that in order to prevent the spread of infectious diseases on the territory of our country, the health institutions carry out comprehensive work in accordance with the recommendations of the World Health Organization.

The international certificates on the elimination of a number of infectious diseases in the country, as well as the fact that the experience of Turkmen doctors in this area is recommended for dissemination in the states of the WHO European region testify to the recognition of Turkmenistan’s success in the field of public health.

Nowadays, scientific medicine interprets traditional medicine in a new way, recognizing the healing power of many medicinal plants, which are the generous Turkmen land is so rich in.

Among them is licorice root, which our ancestors used for various health problems, including cough, upper respiratory tract disease.

Scientists today confirm that the active substance of this plant prevents the development of new coronavirus. Moreover, even a small concentration of an aqueous extract of licorice root has a neutralizing effect.

Moreover, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov calls for improving the quality of medical care, expanding the range of services based on innovative technologies, including in the fight against infectious diseases.

The use of new technologies in public health requires appropriate qualifications of specialists, high-level professionals.

Personnel training, exchange of advanced technological and methodological developments rank among the main areas of international partnership in this area, to which the leader of the nation pays close attention.

As a result of the "open doors" policy pursued by the President of Turkmenistan, friendly and fraternal ties with foreign states become stronger. In the area of ​​health care, partnerships progressively develops with such countries as the USA, Russia, Germany, Austria, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Belarus, Turkey, etc.

Partnership in the healthcare sphere was discussed within the framework of the working visits of the President of Turkmenistan to these countries that gave a powerful impact to cooperation and exchange of experience in this industry.
