Correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” report that at the end of last week the ophthalmology clinic located on Mollanepes street in Ashgabat was closed for quarantine.
It is popularly referred to as the eye clinic. One of the patients who had undergone treatment there tested positive for COVID-19.
Other patients were discharged to continue treatment at home and all scheduled surgeries were cancelled. Doctors performed two urgent surgeries and discharged patients after prescribing them medications and informing them that they would be summoned to the in-patient facility to have stitches removed.
It was reported that last week the doctor Yusup Babayev died and 7 days later, on the day of his commemoration ceremony, his sister died.

It was previously reported that school holidays were scheduled to be extended for another week, until 25 January, 2021 because of the increasing number of deaths from COVID-19.
The news outlet Turkmen News, which is receiving reports on numerous deaths caused by COVID-19 says that the second wave of coronavirus has hit Turkmenistan.
