President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov congratulated the Turkmen people on the New Year. In his annual congratulations, the head of Turkmenistan noted that according to the eastern calendar, 2021 is considered the year of the Ox.
“One of the Turkmens' favorite animals is a cow, and it is no coincidence that a proverb has been formed, the meaning of which is that a person treats domestic animals with soul.
The family that keeps the cow does not know the need, because it brings wealth to the house.That is why the Year of the Ox is considered a year that brings benefits,” Berdimuhamedov said, stressing that the courageous Turkmen people, whose creative work is increasing the power of our state, is entering the Year of the Ox with clear goals and great confidence.
The head of Turkmenistan drew attention to the fact that, despite the difficult situation in the world, the people of Turkmenistan were able in 2020, held under the motto “Turkmenistan - the homeland of neutrality”, to achieve stable development of the national economy with their inspired work, and gave a start to many initiatives of state importance for the good people and country.
“Many social and industrial facilities have been built and commissioned. Thousands of happy families celebrated housewarming. And we continue to rapidly build social and industrial infrastructure.
A number of projects of international importance are being implemented in Turkmenistan, designed to turn our country into a new important link in the regional and interregional transport and communication system,” the President stressed.
The Turkmen leader added in his address that at a meeting of the Halk Maslahaty (People's Council), held in September, priority tasks were identified to improve the activities of the country's legislative body.
“The transition of the national parliament to a new, bicameral system will create good conditions for further strengthening the legal framework of the Motherland and more effective work of this government body.
On the last Sunday of March 2021, we will hold elections for members of the Halk Maslahaty Milli Gengesh,” Berdimuhamedov said, noting that Turkmenistan is firmly following the path of creation and progress, and that the successes achieved in all areas contribute to a steady increase in the standard of living of the people, strengthen people have confidence in the future.
In his speech, the President of Turkmenistan did not ignore constructive reforms in agriculture.
“This year, the country's courageous farmers have successfully coped with contractual obligations to harvest wheat and raw cotton.More than 1 million 400 thousand tons of Ak Bugday and more than 1 million 250 thousand tons of “white gold” were delivered to the harman of the Motherland.
Rich harvests of fruits, vegetables and gourds have been grown, the head of state stated, assuring that the work on the radical transformation of agriculture would continue.
In his New Year's address to the nation, the President of Turkmenistan also paid attention to the topic of protecting people's health.
“A healthy society is a solid foundation of the state. We carry out systematic work to protect people's health, increase their life expectancy, prevent diseases, and introduce the principles of a healthy lifestyle.
Physical education and sports are of great importance in preserving health and ensuring a happy life for the people, especially the younger generation,” Berdymuhamedov said, recalling that in the new year in the Olympic town of the capital, the world championship in cycle track will be held, as well as the zonal tournament of international tennis competitions at Davis Cup.
Turning to the topic of education and science, the President of Turkmenistan noted:
“We create the best conditions for education and decent upbringing of young people - our future. Her mastery of modern specialties, teaching digital technologies are one of the priorities of state policy.
Harmoniously developing neutral Turkmenistan is actively integrating into the world scientific space. We attach great importance to science, because it helps to strengthen the potential of the economy, develop a digital system, form new industrial sectors, implement large projects and national programs.”
The head of Turkmenistan assured that the state will also create all conditions for the flourishing of culture, literature and art, carry out a lot of work to protect, enrich and popularize the national heritage.
“In the year passed under the motto “Turkmenistan is the homeland of Neutrality”, the Culture Week was successfully held in the Dashoguz velayat. This event contributed to the deep study and widespread promotion of the heritage of our people,” Berdimuhamedov said, recalling that in 2021 a similar Week of Culture will be held in Lebap velayat.
In his New Year's speech, the Turkmen leader paid significant attention to the priorities of foreign policy, noting that in this work Turkmenistan relies on a neutral legal status.
“In 2020, we widely celebrated the 25th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality. The policy of our neutral state Has broad support in the world.
At the 75th session of the UN General Assembly, on the initiative of Turkmenistan and with the unanimous support of the member states of the Community of Nations, the Resolution “The role and significance of the policy of neutrality in maintaining and strengthening international peace, security and the process of sustainable development” was adopted.
It should also be noted that the 47th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation adopted the Resolution “The role of neutrality policy in maintaining and strengthening international peace, security and sustainable development in the region of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and around the world”.
Peace and trust are the main values of humanity and its wealth. On the initiative of Turkmenistan, the UN General Assembly adopted an important document - Resolution “2021 - International Year of Peace and Confidence”.
In April 2020, Turkmenistan was elected a member of the UN Commissions for Social Development for 2021-2025 and for Science and Technology for 2021-2024, ”the head of state said.
The President of Turkmenistan once again drew attention to the fact that the reforms aimed at ensuring the prosperous life of the native people, achieving the success of the Motherland, strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation, give positive results.
“This is confirmed by the International Research Center, which has recognized Turkmenistan as the safest state in the world,” Berdimuhamedov emphasized, noting that in order to further improve the standard of living and social security of citizens, from January 1, 2021, wages, pensions and state manuals, scholarships for students and listeners.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhameov recalled that the new year marks the 30th anniversary of the declaration of independence of Turkmenistan.
