COVID-19 vaccination campaign for senior citizens is ongoing in Ashgabat

The COVID-19 vaccination campaign is still underway in Ashgabat.According to correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan”, the first shots are currently being administered to residents aged 67-68 and second shots – to residents aged 70 and over.

The first shots were administered to the latter three weeks ago.

Pursuant to the lists of those to be vaccinated, which have been submitted in advance, every morning vaccines are delivered to outpatient clinics from warehouses of the municipal healthcare departments.

It was previously reported that the Chinese vaccine Vero Cell made by the pharmaceuticals company Sinopharm was used. The vaccine has not been registered in Turkmenistan.

For the time being healthcare practitioners indicate the non-existent COVID-19 vaccine BIO WAK on the immunization certificate. It appears that this is related to the fact that Chinese hieroglyphs are used on the package with BIO being the only legible word.
