Dashoguz residents obliged to present a passport to obtain a certificate for food ration

On 11 January, 2021 the ration of cotton seed oil was reduced from 0.5 liter to 0.2 liter per customer in the state-run store №32 in Dashoguz. However, following numerous complaints, requests and threats by customers to vandalize the store the oil ration was reinstated.

Correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” report that the local authorities are still trying to reduce the ration of basis groceries sold to residents at regulated prices.

Residents are currently contacting house administrations to obtain a certificate of household composition. Depending on the number of people registered in a household, the ration of groceries sold at state-run stores is determined.

On 4 January, 2021 executives of house administrated were summoned to Dashoguz khyakimlik’s office and informed that from now on certificates of household composition would be issued based on originals of passports, not the house register.

In other words, if a person has left his place of residenсe, he will not be entitled to the ration of groceries.

Measures were previously undertaken not to give the ration of groceries to those who are doing military service or doing a course in universities abroad.

In the meantime even students, who are studying in other cities of Turkmenistan or are employed outside their place of residence, will not be qualified for the food ration.

A year ago the procedure was not so complicated. In order to obtain the certificate, it was sufficient to bring the house register with the list of registered inhabitants to the house administration.

Parents are now asking their children who are studying in other regions to temporarily send a passport or hand it over through acquaintances so that they can buy more vegetable oil, sugar and flour.

Another new requirement has been introduced. An unemployed resident is obliged to submit a letter of acknowledgement that he is unemployed in order to get the certificate. The post Dashoguz residents obliged to present a passport to obtain a certificate for food ration first appeared on Chronicles of Turkmenistan.
