As was reported yesterday, the dollar exchange rate at “the black market” of Ashgabat had dropped from 25 to 25 manats since the start of the week.
Correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” report that at the same time prices for some groceries have gone down. For instance, a 1 liter bottle of imported vegetable oil which was sold at 63 to 65 manats now cost 50 manats whereas the price for local eggs have decreased to 2,50 to 2,10 manats apiece.
It is unclear whether the price decrease is related to the drop in the dollar value.
Prices for meat and dairy products as well as vegetables have remained unchanged.
Meat, which appeared on the counters of stores in the run-up to holidays, is still available at the government established price of 35 manats per kilo.
However, a new limit of 1,5 kilos per person applies compared to the previous limit of 2 kilos. In addition, according to customers, there are more meat byproducts than meat in the set.The post Following the drop in the dollar exchange rate prices for some groceries go down first appeared on Chronicles of Turkmenistan.
