Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Calls on OTS to Develop Transport, Energy Cooperation

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the Chairman of Halk Maslakhaty chamber of Turkmen bicameral parliament Milli Gengesh, during the Summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), held on Friday in Samarkand, called on the organization members to develop cooperation in transport and energy areas, the official Turkmen media reports.

“We also strive to intensify trade and economic relations, increase and diversify trade between our countries. In particular, we are talking about the economic measures connecting our states, which we consider as a stable and basic system for the movement of goods, services and investments in the Eurasian space,” Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stated.

According to the report, the Halk Maslakhaty Chairman noted that an important component of these measures is industrial cooperation, the integration of the production and technological potential of the OTS countries, and the implementation of large joint infrastructure projects.

“Turkmenistan considers the activation of partnership in the transport and energy sectors among the priorities of the Organization of Turkic States, which today also acts as a determinant of trends in overall economic growth,” Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said.

The Halk Maslakhaty Chairman stated that the general topical tasks of the OTS for the foreseeable future are to timely and actively integrate into this process, using the existing competitive advantages, gaining of the role of a full and effective participant in the formation of new transport and transit corridors, energy routes.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov took part in the OTS summit as an honored guest.
