Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the Chairman of Halk Maslakhaty chamber of Turkmen bicameral parliament Milli Gengesh, met with the President of the Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on the sidelines of the Summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) on Friday in Uzbekistan’s Samarkand city, the official Turkmen media reports.
The Head of Azerbaijan conveyed warm greetings to President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and congratulated Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on being awarded the Highest Order of the Turkic World.
President Ilham Aliyev noted that Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan show an example of fraternal and friendly relations in all areas, and today's meeting will also give a good impetus to the development of relations between the two countries.
The Halk Maslakhaty Chairman expressed his sincere gratitude to the Head of Azerbaijan for his support in promoting and implementing the international initiatives of Turkmenistan.
The parties discussed prospects for cooperation in the field of energy, the creation and development of transport corridors, and in the field of communications.
The Halk Maslakhaty Chairman also met with the Presidents of Uzbekistan, Turkey and Kyrgyzstan.
