On 22 September, 2021 accountants of Ashgabat organizations and enterprises worked until late at night. Correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” report that the accounting departments had been instructed to urgently prepare payroll records and hand them over to the offices of the Ministry of Economy and Finance in order to pay salaries before the public holiday.
On 24 September, 2021 September salaries were transferred to employees’ bank accounts. Salaries are usually paid from the 1st to the 5th of the next month.
Although this was not a bonus paid ahead of the anniversary of the Independence Day, the early transfer of salaries was presented by executives of organizations as a gift for employees.
In the run-up to public holidays residents fear that banks will be closed and it will be problematic to withdraw cash to pay for groceries in the markets.
