Correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” report that since 20 March, 2021 when President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov launched the beautification and landscaping campaign, daily clean-up campaigns have been ongoing in Ashgabat.
Every morning public sector staff, students and senior graders sweep streets and collect garbage in the allocated areas around office buildings, educational establishments, parks and gardens.
According to participants, streets are clean enough because clean-up campaigns are organized every day, but despite this, they should pretend they are working and are not standing idle.
Police officers keep an eye on them and are entitled to make a comment or take a photo of those who do not work hard enough, as viewed by them, and threaten to file a complaint to the public prosecutor’s office using a photo as evidence.
At the same time, the participation in clean-up campaign is voluntary.
During these campaigns the operations of organizations is suspended. Many are urged to work overtime and stay in offices and agencies later because job-related responsibilities need to be fulfilled.
According to sources at “Chronicles of Turkmenistan”, clean-up campaigns are scheduled to last until 25 May when the 140th anniversary of Ashgabat will be celebrated. The post Public sector employees in Ashgabat are mobilized in daily clean-up campaigns (photos) first appeared on Chronicles of Turkmenistan.
