Correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” report that on 21 October, 2020 officials from the khyakimlik’s office and police arrived in Choganly. Under their guidance employees of the house administration dismantled satellite aerials and air conditioners from two-storey cottages.
Many inhabitants of the district took long-term mortgage to buy houses with household buildings hoping that they would have more space in their own privately-owned houses and plots of land than in apartment buildings.
Five years ago satellite aerials and air conditioners were dismantled from the houses located along Ashgabat-Dashoguz motorway. However, the next rows of houses, which cannot be seen from the road, were left intact. The authorities have recently decided that the satellite aerials and air conditioners installed on the houses spoil the appearance of the city.
Satellite aerials and air conditioners are not being removed from houses owned by officials not only in Choganly but also on Andalib street, which is considered to be a “protocol” street.
Let us recall that in September residents of the 11th and other districts of the capital received notifications from house management offices with a request to remove all homesteading equipment and tools, construction materials, satellite aerials and parts for air conditioners from shared facilities such as entrance halls and hallways in front of apartments.
The authorities of Ashgabat prevent residents from installing satellite aerials on the facades of apartment buildings and occasionally demand that staff of the public utilities offices dismantle “the dishes”.
For this reason local residents are installing antennae on the ground in front of the houses.
