Those who have recovered from coronavirus can remain the disease vectors, despite the acquired immunity, it follows from the investigation, conducted by Public Health England (PHE). This is reported by RIA Novosti.
Scientists have found that the immunity of those who have been ill remains at least five months from the moment of falling ill. It is noted that people who were ill during the first wave of coronavirus last spring are already at risk of re-infection.
“Although antibody holders are somewhat protected from contracting COVID-19 themselves, basic data of the next phase of the research suggests that some of these individuals retain large amounts of the virus and may continue to transmit it to others,” said the investigation.
In this regard, scientists noted the importance of continuing to follow the rules of wearing masks, etc. In addition, citizens are advised to stay at home, even if they recovered from COVID-19.
The study began in June 2020 20,787 people were examined, and 6,614 of them were found to have antibodies to coronavirus infection.
Earlier, the chief medical specialist at Push Doctor Dan Bunstone has declared that if a person feels tired for several months without objective reasons, then this may indicate an asymptomatic coronavirus.
