Turkmenistan and Iran have opened a test border crossing for the movement of trucks at the Artyk (Turkmenistan) Lotfabad (Iran) checkpoint, Iranian media report.
In accordance with the agreed sanitary procedures, it was decided that the trucks will cross the border post of the two countries and the trailers will be re-hitch from Iranian to Turkmen vehicles which will deliver the cargo to the destination inside Turkmenistan or other country.
After that, the Turkmen trucks will return empty trailers to Iranian drivers at Artyk. A similar operation will be carried out for Turkmen trucks upon the entry to Iran.
On November 29, Ambassador of Iran to Turkmenistan Golam Abbas Arbab Khales said that his country is very interested in expanding trade relations with Ashgabat.
In an interview with IRNA, Arbab Khales pointed out that Iranian and Turkmen companies are making a lot of efforts to maintain and increase the bilateral trade turnover, despite a series of restrictions amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The Iranian Ambassador to Turkmenistan stressed that various aspects of mutual cooperation between the two countries in the production and business sectors were considered at a meeting with the Chairman of the Union of Entrepreneurs and Industrialists of Turkmenistan.
