Sanitary-epidemiological surveillance measures are being strengthened in Turkmenistan, Trend reports with reference to the country’s Ministry of Healthcare and Medical Industry.
The epidemiological situation in the world regarding infectious diseases, including new viruses that may represent a public health emergency case, remains tense, according to the report.
“Given the geographical location of Turkmenistan, located at the intersection of transport routes, the development of international relations, expanding the varieties of tourism services, etc., comprehensive measures are being taken to prevent infectious diseases from entering Turkmenistan’s territory,” the report said.
In order to protect the Turkmen territory from the penetration and spread of infections in border districts, the control over citizens leaving Turkmenistan and returning from abroad is being strengthened.
China, which is the source of the deadly coronavirus, is among the key trade partners of Turkmenistan.
In addition, a significant number of Turkmen students receive higher education in China.
