The volume of rail transportation along the China-Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran (CKTI) railway will increase, Kazakhstan Railways (KR) said in a message.

Representatives of the railways of Kazakhstan, China, Iran and Turkmenistan held a quadrilateral meeting in KR’s head office. In particular, the parties discussed issues of establishing competitive tariffs for cargo transportation along the China-Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran route during the talks.

Noting the potential of the CKTI international transit corridor, the participants of the meeting spoke in favor of the organization of a regular container service on this corridor, according to the message.

Vice President for Logistics of Kazakhstan Railways Sanzhar Elyubayev noted the need to create conditions for the development of container service, the formation of stable container traffic, the development of the client and cargo base and the application of approved tariff rates for the transport of goods in containers along the route.

The sides identified operators responsible for the organization of container trains for the CKTI route and signed relevant protocol during the meeting.
