Akja Nurberdiyeva, chairperson of the Turkmen Parliament, has received credentials of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Philippines Wilfredo Santos, the Turkmen government said in a message Dec. 14.
The diplomat was informed about key directions of the Turkmen domestic policy. In particular, he was informed about the measures taken in Turkmenistan in the field of youth policy, development of scientific-educational sphere, sports and tourism, the work to study and promote the national historical and cultural heritage.
Santos, in turn, stressed that the neutrality policy and international initiatives of Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov aimed at ensuring universal security and sustainable development are greatly respected in the Philippines and the world as well.
The diplomat was also received in the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.
Speaking about the opportunities for expanding cooperation in the fields of politics, agriculture and tourism, the sides noted the need to intensify high-level contacts in various spheres, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said in a message.
The sides also noted the potential for development of trade and economic cooperation and investment ties and made a number of proposals for their further development.
