Iranian Foreign Minister to visit Turkmenistan

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif plans to visit Turkmenistan, Trend reports referring to the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.

Details of the upcoming visit were discussed during a meeting with Iranian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Seyed Mohammad Ahmadi at the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.The sides noted the high level of Turkmen-Iranian relations implemented under the wise guidance of the presidents of two fraternal countries, the report said.

It was also emphasized that comprehensive cooperation is developed in political, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres

Turkmenistan and Iran have a long land border, along with a maritime border on the coast of the Caspian Sea. A number of big economic projects have been recently implemented. Besides gas pipelines, the IranTurkmenistan Friendship Dam was built and the North-South railway project was completed with Kazakhstan’s participation.

As of February 1, 2018, 89 investment projects with the participation of Iranian companies were registered in Turkmenistan. Their total value is equal to $1,310.95 million, 0.8 million euros and 0.81 million Turkmen manats.

According to the Turkmen Ministry of Finance and Economy, 142 various enterprises with Iranian capital including limited partnerships, subsidiaries, representative offices and branches have been registered in the country.
