ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, Oct. 26

By Huseyn Hasanov Trend:

A training course was organized at the Turkmen State Customs Service to familiarize the personnel with the export module of the ASYCUDA World integrated customs information system that is being introduced in the country, Trend reports referring to the customs service.

The purpose of the event is to master the rules for filling in the customs declaration when exporting goods from the Turkmen territory using the export module of the introduced software.

The course participants were employees who maintain customs statistics, the report said.

Last year, the Turkmen State Customs Service and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) signed a technical cooperation project agreement on implementation of the ASYCUDA World integrated customs information system.

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has recently called for the State Customs Service to actively use the advanced international experience while inspecting goods transported through the border.

Ashgabat considers the development of large-scale North-South and East-West transport corridors, an increase in the capabilities of the Central Asia-Persian Gulf communication network and the development of transport links in the Caspian Sea-Black Sea region to be a priority for its policy.

These projects concern the expansion of transport and communications between the Central Asian countries with the further access to the markets of Europe, Southeast Asia, the Middle East. In particular, sea shipping in the Caspian Sea is becoming important in Turkmenistan’s foreign economic relations.

The volumes of cargoes handled at the harbor berths is growing, through which industrial and agricultural equipment, automotive equipment, metal products, timber, mineral fertilizers are supplied to the country, while polypropylene, coke and oil products, chemical and building products are exported abroad.
