Turkmenistan appoints director to major urea factory

Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, May 26

Berdimurat Jumaev was appointed director of the GarabogazKarbamid Factory, according to a decree of the president of Turkmenistan.

The construction of the factory for industrial processing of natural gas into ammonia and urea (carbamide) is nearing completion in the city of Garabogaz, Balkan Region.

The project is implemented by Mitsubishi Corporation of Japan and Gap Insaat Company of Turkey.

The factory is designed to produce 1,155,000 tons of urea per year. The project uses technologies of Danish Haldor Topsoe AS, American UOP, Italian Saipem and Dutch Uhde Fertilizer companies.

With its commissioning, the annual volume of nitrogen fertilizers produced in the country will exceed two million tons. About a third of these products will be supplied to the domestic market, and the rest will be exported.
