Orazdurdi Sukhanov has been appointed to the post of Minister of Transport of Turkmenistan, said the country president's decree.
Earlier, Sukhanov held the position of head of the police Department of Turkmenistan's Dasoguz region.
Regional transportation projects have intensified in recent years in Turkmenistan. In December 2014, a ceremony for launching a new railway route Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran was held. The North-South transportation corridor will link the Central Asian countries with the Persian Gulf and will open the way to Europe for them.
Ashgabat is also involved in the implementation of another railway project on the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Tajikistan route. China, Kyrgyzstan and Iran may also join the project.
