President of Turkmenistan received President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) Sheikh Ahmed Al-Fahad Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.Thanking for the opportunity of a personal meeting, the guest congratulated the President of Turkmenistan on the remarkable event the World Weightlifting Championship.
It was underlined that the Olympic Council of Asia considers Turkmenistan as a reliable and very important partner that the OCA is planning to strengthen the fruitful partnership, which has received new content in recent years.
Expressing satisfaction with the constructive character of cooperation with the OCA, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov confirmed the commitment of Turkmenistan to enhance these traditional relations and contribute to the development of the regional and international partnership on the sports arena.
During the meeting, the President of Turkmenistan and the OCA President exchanged their views on the important areas of the bilateral cooperation and the prospects for its continuation.Particular attention was paid to the World Weightlifting Championship.
According to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Turkmenistan has applied every effort to hold this prestigious event at the high organizational level.The representatives of more than 100 states - Africa, Europe, Asia, America and Oceania participate in the Championship.
The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) organized the congress, dedicated to the further development of this sport, on the eve of the tournament.In this regard, it was emphasized Turkmenistan’s positive experience in hosting the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games that were successfully held in Ashgabat last September, as well as the Amul-Hazar 2018 International rally.
Expressing belief that the 2018 World Weightlifting Championship will become another bright and remarkable event in the world sports calendar, the President of the Olympic Council of Asia expressed gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan for the initiative approach towards the cooperation with the OCA and underlined that all initiatives, put forward by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, complied with the spirit of the Olympic movement.
According to the guest, the remarkable achievements gained by Turkmenistan, including in the sports sphere, the creation of the modern sports infrastructure vividly testified to the paramount attention, paid to the development of physical culture and sports movement.
The forward-looking policy, pursued in this sphere, brings good results the Turkmen sport has reached the qualitatively new world level.Underlining that the organization of the World Weightlifting Championship in Ashgabat is another evidence of Turkmenistan’s high international authority, Sheikh Ahmed Al-Fahad Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah wished the President of Turkmenistan good health and new remarkable achievements in his versatile activity, and the people of Turkmenistan wellbeing and prosperity on behalf of the sports organizations of the countries of Asia and Oceania.
