01.12.2020 | International Exhibition Opens in Ashgabat to Mark 25 Years of Turkmenistan’s Permanent Neutrality

On December 1, an International Exhibition, celebrating the 25th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality, opened at the Expo Center of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

It brought together 37 ministries and sectoral agencies, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, and 6 TV channels.

The celebratory exhibition will run for 12 days and will feature various business events, including with the participation of representatives of foreign companies.

What sets it apart from other expositions is the maximum use of digital technology. The exhibition venue boasts display stands of state-run and private organizations, including ministries, agencies, large-scale enterprises showcasing achievements and prospects of each sector with engaging video content.

The original designs of every stand are worthy of note.For instance, the Turkmenhaly State Association’s exhibition space displays a Turkmen yurt offering visitors insights into the Association’s activities.

A horseshoe is the Turkmenatlarty State Association’s distinctive logo.Display stands of the Ministry of Education and the Türkmenhowaýollary Agency are reminiscent of an open book and an aircraft respectively.

The exhibition’s thematic sections reflect priority areas of trade-economic cooperation between Turkmenistan and foreign countries.Every day of the international forum is devoted to one of the sectors of the national economy.

Today, the central focus is on the trade industry and entrepreneurial business, to which President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov gives special attention as the main motors driving the national economy.

Organized by the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations, a conference entitled “Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan is the Reliable Basis for Strengthening and Developing the Country’s Foreign Trade Relations” was held in the big hall of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry as part of the exhibition.

Participants in workshop sessions delivered reports on activities of the organizations, which are instrumental in helping to put Turkmenistan-made products on the world market and to take advantage of digital technology.

A special report addressed the introduction of the latest international mechanisms into the banking system and the expansion of non-cash payments and services.

Then, a specially designed area of the exhibition hall played host to a presentation entitled “The Turkmen carpet that has earned a well-deserved spot on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, is our national pride”, given by the Türkmеnhaly State Association.

The Ministry of Textile Industry and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry co-organized a spectacular fashion show showcasing new ready-to-wear clothes made by garment enterprises, as well as new collections of Asman and Mähirli Zenan Fashion Houses.

In the afternoon, the Chamber’s small convention hall hosted a round-table meeting on the theme of “The Main Trends and Prospects for the Development of Tourism in Turkmenistan”, organized by our country’s business community.

Meeting participants discussed key issues concerning the development of the sector amidst the worldwide acute infectious disease pandemic.

The forum’s first day program concluded with the presentation of new products and projects of members of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan. A number of agreements were signed as the logical outcome of the event.

Every day, until December 12, the Expo Center of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry will host themed events: research and practice conferences, online meetings, round-table sessions, presentations, business meetings, which are expected to culminate in the signing of documents on bilateral cooperation.

The international forum will also see the announcement of winners of the innovative project competition “Digital Solutions-2020”, presentation events for a new national email service - Sanly.tm and a tmchat messenger program, a virtual exhibition “Turkmen Sakhra-2020” and scientific research works by scientists of the Academy of Sciences.

Participants and visitors will have the chance to see new books published to mark the 25th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality.

The exhibition’s grand closing ceremony will take place on December 12, when International Neutrality Day will be observed across the world.
