Ashgabat hosted the meeting of the High-Level Group on Trade and Investment Promotion, acting under the aegis of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission on economic cooperation. The main goal of the two-day meeting, organized in compliance with the agreements achieved at the government level is to identify the new vectors of the efficient cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation and to widen the bilateral relations between the business structures.

The delegation of the friendly country includes the heads of the government institutions, large enterprises and companies, working in various industries, as well as the members of the High Level Group on supporting trade and investments.

Strengthening of relations with one of the strategic partners Russia is prioritized by the foreign-policy course of Turkmenistan. The mutual understanding and trust established between the leaders of Turkmenistan and Russia, and the willingness of the countries to bring the bilateral relations up to the new levels stand as the important factors of the fruitful dialogue.

That is vividly proved by the high-level regular meetings, including in the framework of large international events.A significant step in strengthening the Turkmen-Russian cooperation was an official visit of the RF President to Turkmenistan on October 2, 2017, during which the aspiration for widening the trade and economic as well as investment collaboration was confirmed.

In this context, it should be emphasized the efficient character of the meeting between President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Vladimir Putin on October 11 in Sochi (RF) in the framework of a regular meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

The productive cooperation of Turkmenistan with the regions of the Russian Federation - the Republic of Tatarstan, St.Petersburg, the Astrakhan and Sverdlovsk regions and other subjects, testify to the fruitful partnership.

In this regard, it should be underlined the contribution of the leading Russian companies - Vozrozhdenie, KAMAZ, Zarubezhneft, Siberia Airlines - to the implementation of Turkmenistan's national programmes for the development of the industrial sector, construction, transportation, etc. 190 economic entities and over 200 joint projects with the participation of Russian capital have been registered in Turkmenistan.

In recent years, the list of domestic products supplied to Russia has expanded considerably.Speaking about the prospects of bilateral partnership, it should be noted that today Turkmenistan is a country with a dynamically developing economy attractive for foreign investments.

As a result of complex measures, the GDP indexes, industrial production, foreign trade turnover are steadily growing, and the prices for goods and services are stable in the domestic market.

The volumes of capital investments to the implementation of major projects of national and international importance increase.Wide opportunities are opened up given the ambitious programmes aimed at diversifying the industrial sector, radical modernization of the relevant infrastructure, the introduction of high technologies and the creation of science-intensive industries.

In this aspect, there is great potential for strengthening partnership between the two states in almost all spheres.Currently, the both countries give priority to the implementation of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Programme on Economic Cooperation for 2017-2019, which includes 80 different events and projects in the fields of trade, industry, energy, engineering, construction, agriculture, transport, etc.

The successful solution of the tasks, outlined in this document, is to expand the structure of export-import exchanges. The activities of the Russian Export Center are also aimed at promoting joint foreign economic programmes.

The mutual aspiration to intensify the business ties was reaffirmed during the bilateral meetings between the representatives of government institutions and private companies of Turkmenistan and Russia.Expressing their readiness to actively participate in the implementation of large-scale national projects, businessmen from a friendly country put forward a number of specific proposals for the further expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields.

In general, the joint work carried out within the High-Level Group on Trade and Investment Promotion contributes to the practical implementation of the agreements achieved by the parties and the development of new mechanisms for diversifying the partnership.

Following the results of the next, fifth meeting, it is planned to sign the protocol, which will determine the key vectors for strengthening the Turkmen-Russian ties in various sectors of the national economy.
