11.07.2017 | Private sector makes a bigger contribution to Turkmenistan’s industrial output

In the first half of 2017 Turkmenistan’s industrial sector saw an increase in production, in particular in the energy, oil refining, metallurgy, light and printing industries.The fuel and energy sector’s share of total output stood at 47.7 percent.

Gas production went up steadily and reached 5.4 percent as compared to a key indicator (January-June 2016).Export deliveries made by Turkmengas State Concern increased by 12.4 percent.

In the energy sector, the growth rate totaled 4.9 percent.The production of the following materials rose in percentage terms: reinforcing steel, angle bars and metal profiles 3; cotton fiber 35; silk fabrics 15.3 percent.

Considerable growth was also achieved in the output of the following products: fish 15.5 percent; macaroni 13.3 percent; garments and textiles over 9 percent; whole milk products 7 percent; flour over 6 percent; sausages 5.6 percent.

The private sector saw active development of industrial production.Plastic pipe and fiber glass production was an undisputed leader in the sector and climbed to 37.2 percent.
