His Excellency Mr. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, President of Turkmenistan, President National Olympic Committee of Turkmenistan

Your Excellency, Dear President,

Please accept the greetings from the International Weightlifting Federation.

Taking this opportunity, we wish to express our deep respect and heartfelt gratitude for the enormous contribution to the development of weightlifting in Turkmenistan. Due to your systematic support, the National Weightlifting Federation, together with the National Olympic Committee of Turkmenistan, work closely to develop sports and promote the Olympic movement in Turkmenistan and around the world.

I would like to draw your attention to the World Weightlifting Championship, which was successfully held in Ashgabat in November 2018, and I ask permission to contact you through this letter.

I feel even more confident that the Executive Committee of the International Weightlifting Federation made the right decision to organize this historic event in Turkmenistan. Not being limited only by the fulfillment of the expected results, having held the event at an even higher level, Turkmenistan organized an excellent world championship.

Due to the fact that Chiraphan Nanthawong (the Kingdom of Thailand), who won the gold medal in the under 45-kg weight category in the 2018 World Weightlifting Championships in Ashgabat, was charged with an anti-doping rule violation, and was forfeited her gold medal, in accordance with the regulations of the International Weightlifting Federation special attention is paid to the re-distribution of medals.

In this regard, I would like to inform you that according to the current results of that competition, Turkmen athlete Yulduz Jumabayeva was awarded with the gold medal in “clean and jerk” category and the silver medal in “snatch” category in under 45-kg weight category in the 2018 World Weightlifting Championship.

Moreover, the Turkmen athlete broke the world record among juniors in “clean and jerk” category, in 104-kg weight category, lifting 179 kilograms.

The ceremony of awarding medals is planned to be held at the 2021 International Weightlifting Competition.

On behalf of the World Weightlifting, we wish the New Year 2021 to be happy and successful.

We wish you health, peace and prosperity in the coming year!

Best regards,

Dr. Michael Irani Interim President, International Weightlifting Federation

Mohammed Jalood Secretary General, , International Weightlifting Federation
