To transform our nation into a comprehensively developed, prospering country, we have successfully implemented major long-term oriented reforms and conducted enormous works to shape the national healthcare model.

Through introduction of advanced achievements in medical science and technology and use of best practices, we implemented structural improvements in this sphere, states the congratulatory address by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the occasion of the Day of Healthcare and Medical Industry Workers.

To achieve the goals set in the Program of Socio-Economic Development of the Country for 2018-2024 and the Saglyk State Healthcare Program, we have created every condition necessary for increased life expectancy, disease prevention, development of medical science, promotion of the massive fitness and recreation movement and the principles of healthy living.

Thanks to substantial investments, construction of referral centers, specialty hospitals, health resorts, drug manufacturing enterprises continues in the capital and provinces of the country.Systematic upgrade of healthcare and social protection systems at all stages of life of our citizens mothers and children, teenagers and older people , prevention and diagnosis of diseases, use of advanced methods of treatment gave a new impetus to the development of medical science.

Inauguration of new facilities that will traditionally coincide with the Day of Health Workers is the vivid example of modernization of the national healthcare system, achievement of higher development indicators, and prioritization of concern for the people and their health as part of the state policy, says the address.

Consistent strengthening and development of relations with developed countries and reputable international organizations has a positive impact on the development of the national healthcare system.Building friendly, mutually beneficial ties is the fundamental principle of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy for the national, regional and global development.

In relation to ensuring health and welfare of the population, achieving healthy and harmonious physical and spiritual development of a human, environmental protection and raising the capacity of the healthcare system on the global level, Turkmenistan supports the universal development strategy pursued by the specialized agencies of the UN World Health Organization, UNICEF, UNFPA.

Our country successfully implements joint projects and programs, and is known for its constructive initiatives.We have recently adopted several programs of historical significance that aim to protect public health and deepen reforms in the context of further modernization of the national healthcare system.

They include the National Program for Prevention of Harmful Effects of Alcohol in Turkmenistan for 2018-2024, the National Program for Increasing Physical Activity in Turkmenistan for 2018-2025 and the National Program for Mental Health Care for 2018-2022.

These documents offer new prospects for the strengthening and enhancing cooperation on interstate and international levels.In addition to discoveries in sciences such as astronomy, mathematics and geometry, first discoveries in medicine were made in the ancient cities of our land located along the Great Silk Road Merv, Nisa, Kone Urgench, Abiward, Sarahs, Dehistan.

They eventually became prosperous centers for science, education, culture and art.Our aim is to ensure that in the 21st century Turkmenistan, located at the heart of the Great Silk Road, will strengthen its global standing as a powerful nation that has, inter alia, highly developed medicine.

We will continue to implement large-scale reforms, successfully fulfill national programs and promote people’s welfare.We will ensure the high level of improvements in Turkmenistan’s healthcare and medical industry.
