23.04.2018 | Transport and industry are among the key vectors of the economic partnership between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan

The Turkmen-Uzbek top-level talks focused on the trade and economic cooperation.President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized the mutual potential in the investments and industrial cooperation as well as agreed to offer a new incentive to the traditional partnership and aim the business structures and manufacturers of the two countries to launch joint projects, including in the small- and medium-sized business.

Specialized exhibitions of commodity producers stand as one of the forms of such cooperation.Thus, at the end of last month, Ashgabat hosted the National Industrial Exhibition of Uzbekistan.

More than 60 enterprises of the neighboring country showcased their products.The National Exhibition of Turkmenistan and the Turkmen-Uzbek Business Forum are held in the framework of the current state visit of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The transport segment as a growth driver in Central Asia and adjacent regions, and the most important factor for the successful economic integration stands as a strategic area of the interstate cooperation.

It is not just about overland routes.Turkmenistan offers Uzbekistan to explore the possibilities of using the modern port infrastructure on the Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea to enter the European and Middle Eastern markets, the regions of the Black and Mediterranean seas.

In particular, the Turkmen side is ready to work together to create the corridor Uzbekistan - Turkmenistan - the Caspian Sea - the South Caucasus with the access to the Black Sea ports of Georgia, Turkey, Romania and other countries.

Next week, on May 2, the solemn ceremony of opening of a new international sea port will take place in the city of Turkmenbashi, which is to become a transport and logistics centre of the continental importance.

The International High-Level Conference on Cooperation in the Transport Sector will be held in Turkmenbashi on the eve of the opening ceremony.The ministers of transport of the countries - members of the Economic Cooperation Organization will held a meeting in Turkmenbashi on May 3.

In this regard, the representatives of Uzbekistan are invited to take part in the above-mentioned events, including the business forum of the transport companies, participating in the project on the transit corridor Central Asia-Middle East (Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Oman), the Agreement on which was signed in Ashgabat on April 2011.

In the context of the diversification of the continental traffic flows, Turkmenistan is also ready to discuss the practical parameters for establishing the railway communication along the Central Asia-China route with Uzbekistan.

The agenda of the interstate cooperation in the energy sector includes the construction of another branch of the gas pipeline along the route Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Tajikistan-Kyrgyzstan-China with the annual capacity of up to 25 billion cubic meters of gas.

The work on the implementation of the project on the supply of electricity from Turkmenistan along the route Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Tajikistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TUTAP) is carried out.
