25.11.2020 | Number of fruitful meeting is held in the Ministry of Finances and Economy

The Ministry of Finances and Economy has held number of events with participation of international structure in online format.

The fourth session of the Joint Working Group between the UN agencies and the Government of Turkmenistan for social and economic impact of COVID-19 was one of these events.

Representatives of the Mejlis, the Ombudsman Office, relative ministries and departments, the UN agencies accredited in our country, competent financial institutes like the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and public organizations have taken part in the meeting.

The agenda included the discussion of implementation of the Plan of social and economic activities against the pandemic of acute infectious disease in Turkmenistan, which was approved by the Resolution of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov last July.

The participants of the session have informed about the measures undertaken for implementation of the above-mentioned Plan and discussed the issues related to the analysis of statistical data.

In particular, detailed schedule of the Plan monitoring, which includes the indicators for reporting on social and economic response to the pandemic by the country offices of the UN, developed by the UNDP in Turkmenistan has been reviewed.

In the end of the event, further measures have been outlined for successful solution of current objectives in this direction.

In addition, awareness session on development of national securities market and stock exchange based on practice and analysis of the UNDP and international financial institutes has been held for representatives of financial and economic sector of our country in online mode on the same day.

Experts of the Asian Development Bank and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development have made presentations on advanced world practice in this sphere.

Representatives of the Ministry of Finances and Economy, Ashgabat Stock Exchange, the State Bank of Foreign Economic Affairs have informed about national vision of development of securities market and stock exchange in Turkmenistan.

In addition, specialists of the State Intellectual Property Service of the Ministry of Finances and Economy have taken part in the video conference session of the working group for establishment of Eurasian Regional System of legal protection of industrial samples, which was hosted by the headquarter of Eurasian Patent Organization in Moscow.

Joint activity plans in this direction were the subjects of discussion. It was mentioned that efficient system of intellectual property has been formed up in Turkmenistan. The strategy, which is implemented under the leadership of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, in this sphere is built according to national legislation and international agreements signed by the country.

It provides legal protection of industrial ownership facilities based on issuance of relative patent for invention and samples as well as trade mark and service certificates.

Turkmenistan is a members of the Eurasian Patent Convention, which was adopted for establishment and operation of single Eurasian patent system.

At present time, Eurasian Regional System of legal protection of industrial samples, which introduction will simplify the procedure of obtaining patents and reduce administrative and financial load from the applicants, is under development.

Highlighting the importance of actual mechanisms in the world patent system, which allow regulating national policy in this sphere, the participants have spoken for intensification of the contacts between the structures engaged in this activity.
