President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received President of the Oceania National Olympic committees (ONOC) Robin Mitchell.Congratulating the head of state on the successful holding of the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, the guest expressed his admiration with a grand closing ceremony of the “Ashgabat-2017” Games, as well as gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan for the decision to participate in such large competitions of Oceania countries, emphasizing that it has raised the legal status and value of these Games to a totally new level.
He praised the level of preparation and holding of these major games, Mr.Mitchell underlined an interest of the organization that he represents in strengthening cooperation with Turkmenistan.
Thanking for kind words, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov confirmed Turkmenistan’s commitment to the humanistic ideals of the Olympic movement and expressed confidence in further continuation of interaction, intended to facilitate the international cooperation in the field of sports.
During the meeting the President of Turkmenistan and head of the Oceania National Olympic Committees exchanged views on issues of bilateral cooperation, stressing that there are hopeful prospects for its activation.
It was emphasized that the 5th Asian Games became the most large-scale in the history of these competitions, including through the participation of the Oceania countries.Holding of such major competitions in Ashgabat will undoubtedly increase the international prestige of Turkmenistan.
Acknowledging the rapid development rate of Turkmen sport, the guest noted that this is the personal merit of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, giving this area a lot of attention.Vivid confirmation of this is the current Asian Games, where the Turkmen sportsmen deservedly took first place for number of medals won.
Once again expressing gratitude to the head of state for the excellent organization of Games on behalf of Oceania sports organizations, Mr.Robin Mitchell wished the Turkmen leader sound health and new success in large-scale activity, and prosperity to the country and the people.
