30.11.2017 | Joint concert by performing artists closes Culture Days of Romania in Turkmenistan

Ashgabat’s Magtymguly National Music and Drama Theater has hosted a closing ceremony of Culture Days of Romania in Turkmenistan and a joint concert by performing artists.Organized today at the Museum of Fine Arts, an exhibition of decorative and applied arts that featured exhibits from a collection of the Dimitrie Gusti National Village Museum, one of the biggest and oldest museum complexes in Europe, was a big draw for visitors.

The Museum visitors’ book has a message written by President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov, who made a tour of this unique open-air ethnographic complex during his official visit to Romania in May 2011.

During the museum tour, the Turkmen leader focused his attention on a number of exhibits testifying to the two nations’ common historical roots.Interestingly, the museum was chosen as the venue for a grand opening ceremony of Days of Culture of Turkmenistan in Romania in May 2016 and an exhibition of our country’s museum treasures and arts and crafts, arranged during the Days.

Visitors to the exhibition in Ashgabat had a chance to fully appreciate silver jewelry, a carpet with traditional Romanian ornamental motifs, woven products, embroidery, pottery, lacy tablecloths and napkins, wooden spoons and jewelry boxes with beautiful carving.

Much of the exhibition is devoted to the women’s and men’s national costume.Scores of photographs and a video film also offered insights into the Romanian rural architecture.

A meeting, held at the Museum of Fine Arts, discussed issues relating to the promotion of contacts in the field of conservation and worldwide popularization of the two peoples’ national heritage, organization of joint research activities and exhibitions.

Among those attending the meeting were museum specialists, archeologists, artists, fine art experts, teachers and students from universities specializing in creative arts, and journalists.Screenings of children’s and adult films were a worthy and welcome addition to the Culture Days Program.

Today, at the State Culture Institute, Irina Iordachescu, a Romanian opera singer, shared her professional secrets with students of the Turkmen National Music Conservatory.An action-packed sightseeing program gave our guests the opportunity to visit Ashgabat’s places of interest, museums and cultural centers, and to become familiar with traditions and customs of the Turkmen.

Participants in the closing ceremony of Culture Days of Romania (held in the Magtymguly National Music and Drama Theater) expressed their gratitude to the heads of state Presidents Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov and Klaus Iohannis for the opportunity to hold the artistic forum, aimed to strengthen, enrich and give new meaning to spiritual relations between the two nations.

The friendly country’s delegation was truly grateful to the people of Turkmenistan for the hospitable welcome.Then followed a friendship concert given by performing artists of Turkmenistan and Romania.

Its program consisted of musical compositions from the world’ classical musical masterpieces, folk melodies and songs.Culture Days of Romania in Turkmenistan have become a special celebration to mark the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries, and have given renewed impetus to closer fruitful humanitarian contacts.
