The state television of Turkmenistan reports that on 5 October, in the course of the extended government session, the head of Turkmenistan’s state financial crime enforcement agency Mammetkhan Chakyev reported on arrests of officials who were accused of corruption.
The CEO of Türkmen Demir Önümleri under the Ministry of Industry Merdan Babaev extorted bribes from his subordinates, in particular his deputy Dovran Allakyev who from August 2012 to August 2017 purchased goods manufactured by the state-run enterprise at government-established rates and sold it through business entities at inflated prices to generate illegal revenue.
Based on the results of the investigation, Babaev and Allakyev were convicted of criminal offence.The cars owned by them were confiscated as evidence.
The inspections were carried out in several enterprises under the Ministry of Textile Industry. In particular, it was identified that the deputy CEO of the Akhal velayat association Allanazar Yazberdiev inflicted large scale damage to the state.
Kerimbai Matnazarov, the head of the self-financed company “Dashoguzkhyzmat” under the municipal khyakimlik’s office took advantage of his job position and concluded contracts to supply textile finished goods inflicting large scale damage to the state via fraudulent schemes.
Now the works are underway to сompensate for the damage caused to the state.
The inspections are underway in the Ministry of Railroad Transport. The head of the station of the Ashgabat railroad office Tachmurat Gurbanmamedov understated the revenue for the fees received to the station’s account. This resulted in the large scale damage inflicted to the state and Gurbanmamedov’s conviction.
The inspection was carried out in the Ministry of Culture.
The head of the Culture Department of Murgab etrap in Mary velayat Shadurdy Momaev and the employees Shamukhammet Nurmukhammedov and Gochmurad Rejepov made fraudulent financial statements, thus inflicting large scale damage to the state. Criminal charges were brought against them. The investigation is still underway.
Let us recall that in May President Berdymukhammedov announced the launch of the anti-corruption campaign which resulted in the arrest of several high ranking officials and law enforcement officers.
In connection with the arrest of prosecutor’s office officials, Prosecutor General Amanmyrat Khallyev was dismissed from his post.
To combat corruption, the financial crime enforcement agency, headed by Colonel Mammetkhan Chakyev was established.
