A wave of magnetic storms will cover the Earth in 2024

The Sun, within the current cycle, will reach its peak activity in 2024.This will lead to an increase in the number of magnetic storms on Earth.According to the head of the solar astronomy laboratory at the Institute of Space Research and the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Sergei Bogachev, magnetic storms will occur several times a month.

RIA Novosti reports this.

Bogachev clarified that it is impossible to accurately predict solar flares and the magnetic storms on Earth that they will cause. In such a forecast, one can only talk about the general trends in the geomagnetic situation that awaits earthlings next year.

According to the scientist, solar activity either increases or decreases according to the laws of nature. Now the maximum is approaching. However, different scientists give different predictions about how soon the peak of activity will occur. For example, American experts believe that 2024 will be relatively moderate, and the maximum will occur in 2025.

Bogachev also reminded that record-breaking magnetic storms on Earth last occurred in 2005.
