The state television of Turkmenistan reports that at the joint session of Turkmenistan’s Cabinet of Ministers and the Security Council held on 17 May President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov severely reprimanded Minister of Defense Yalym Berdiev for “weakening of control over subordinate agencies”.
Deputy Foreign Minister overseeing emergency situations lieutenant colonel Orazmamedov was relieved from his post for “shortcomings in his work”.
Severe reprimands were issued to Deputy Prime Minister overseeing construction Dadebai Amangeldiev, head of the Presidential administration and Turkmenistan’s Cabinet of Ministers Khadjymyrat Khadjymyradov, khyakim of Ashgabat Shamukhammet Durdylyev, Minister of Public Utilities Myratniyaz Abilov as well as Chairperson of Turkmenistan’s Airlines Dovran Saburov.
On 15 May the central part of Ashgabat was flooded by rain storms. The municipal authorities were not again prepared for the disaster.
It should be mentioned neither the website of the state information agency TDH nor the newspaper “Neitralny Turkmenistan” reported on dismissals and reprimands.
