Ahead of the groundbreaking ceremony of the new section of TAPI project Turkmenistan’s President meets with foreign officials

On 23 February the festive groundbreaking ceremony of the Afghan leg of the TAPI gas pipeline was held in Turkmenistan.

Several high-ranking officials from other countries, who had a meeting with President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov, are expected to take part in the events.

According to the state information agency TDH, the President met with the following officials:

— Director General for Central and West Asia of Asian Development Bank Werner Liepach and “expressed gratitude to the executives of ADB for the constructive approach towards partnership and highly appreciated the funding of the TAPI project implementation”,

— Vice President at the Islamic Development Bank Mr. Mansur Muhtar, whom the President thanked for the support rendered by the Islamic Development bank for the implementation of the TAPI project,

—the first Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin,

—the UAE’s Minister of Economy Sultan Bin Al-Mansur,

— Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Chairman of the Board of АО “Uzbekneftegaz” Alisher Sultanov,

— Indian Minister of State for External Affairs M.J. Akbar,

— Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.
