Turkmen and Azerbaijani people have common roots, Chairman of the Board of the Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Russia Polad Bulbuloglu said on May 16.

Bulbuloglu made the remarks at the 14th Forum of the CIS Creative and Scientific Intelligentsia in Ashgabat, Trend reports referring to the Turkmen Dovlet Habarlary state news agency.

"We belong to a single family of ancient Oghuz. We have different dialects, but speak the same language. In addition to similar language and culture, we have a similar mentality. This allows us to understand each other without words,” he said.

“Therefore, people of both countries are greatly interested in the musical and poetic heritage of each other,” stressed Bulbuloglu, who became People's Artist of Turkmenistan in 2017.
