On Friday, April 5, an earthquake of magnitude 4.8 occurred near New York. This was the most powerful seismic event in the region over the past 100 years, reports daily.afisha.ru with reference to CBS.

State Governor Kathy Hochul called the earthquake the most powerful for the east coast of the United States. The epicenter of the tremors, according to the US Geological Survey, was 46 km northwest of the city of Edison in New Jersey, at a depth of 4.7 km.
