Another meeting on the Sustainable Development Goals was held at a Turkmen university

Today, at the Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after D. Azadi, as part of the work of the “Kitap-paýhasyň çemesi” Book Club, a regular meeting on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) was held.

UNDP specialists introduced students to the results of cooperation between UNDP and Turkmenistan to achieve the SDGs, including joint efforts to finance the SDGs, strengthening national capacity in the field of statistics, reporting and monitoring to ensure better measurement of progress in achieving the SDGs in the country.

In particular, participants got acquainted with the National Platform for Reporting on SDGs as the main tool for monitoring and disseminating data on SDG indicators and learned about the results of work on creating a system of national accounts 2008 and improving the quality of economic statistics.

Let us remind that UNDP in Turkmenistan and the Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after D. Azadi are holding evenings for students on the Sustainable Development Goals during 2023.

Each evening discusses progress on the SDGs, remaining challenges and next steps towards achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

SDG evenings, as part of the TNIMY Book Club, serve as a platform for introducing global efforts to implement the SDGs and discussing the role of the younger generation in the implementation of each of the 17 goals, according to a UNDP press release.
