Another Turkmen activist detained in Istanbul. Another twenty activists wanted by the Turkish police

The Turkmen Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights reports that that on 22 October, 2021 the Turkmen activist Bairam Allalyev was detained. He was summoned to the Migration Office to submit a residence permit application. While he was filling in the documents, law enforcement officers detained him.

Police officers were looking for another three Turkmen activists at their place of registration in Istanbul on 20 October, 2021. According to unconfirmed reports, the police officers were accompanied by unidentified Turkmen nationals.

Dursoltan Taganova had also been summoned to the Migration Office in order to urge her to revoke an asylum application, which guarantees that she will not be deported to Turkmenistan.

Officials provided a defense attorney Mustafa Yaman with an opportunity to familiarize himself with the list of 25 Turkmen activists wanted by the Turkish police but did not allow him making a copy of the document.

According to the source, the complaint about the decision on the deportation of Akhmed Rakhmanov, detained in Antalya on 18 October, was filed to the court. It will be reviewed within 15 days.

“Tightened pressure exercised by the Turkish police on Turkmen opposition members, authorized by high-ranking officials, is a part of Ankara’s political game in the run-up to the session of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States scheduled to be held on 12 November, 2021 in Istanbul”, – the Turkmen Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights reports.

On 18 October, 2021 two opposition activists from Turkmenistan were detained in Turkey.A 47 year old Akhmed Rakhmanov was sent to the deportation centre in Antalya.

Later the same day a 35 year old Kamil Abulov was taken by Istanbul police officers.In the morning of 19 October, 2021 he was placed in the deportation centre.
