Anti-doping agency set up in Turkmenistan

The state information agency TDH reports that on 7 April the congress “Asian Games 2017: International Sport Cooperation for Peace and Progress” was opened in Avaza. At the opening ceremony President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov announced the establishment of the National Anti-doping agency.

Berdymukhammedov also held a meeting with the President of the Olympic Council of Asia Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah. The Sheikh discussed sports-related cooperation with the President.

The Asian Games-2017 are scheduled to be held in Ashgabat from 17 to 27 September 2017 under the slogan “Health. Inspiration. Friendship”. Along with 45 Asian countries athletes from 17 countries of Oceania, which make 6 thousand athletes and 30 thousand foreign visitors, are expected to participate in the Asian Games.
