The captain of the Turkmenistan national football team Arslanmurad Amanov, in an interview with the SportMedia website, called the goals of the Turkmen team in the future qualifying tournament of the Asian Cup-2023. The group stage draw for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers will take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on February 24, 2022.
Based on the results of the draw, 6 groups of 4 teams will be formed - one from each pot.The matches of the group round of the qualifying tournament will be held in a centralized format in one round - on June 8, 11 and 14, 2022. 11 teams will advance to the finals of the Asian Cup 2023 - 6 group winners, as well as 5 teams that took second places with the best results.
In 2004, the national team of Turkmenistan made its debut in the final stage of the Asian Cup in China. In 2019, when the tournament was held in the UAE, the Turkmen team participated in it for the second time.
