Speaking at the BRICS summit, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of using preventive diplomacy in international cooperation, TDH reports.
Thanking Russian President Vladimir Putin for his hospitality and warm welcome, Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that he sees the invitation to the summit, first of all, as a respectful attitude towards Turkmenistan.
As is known, Turkmenistan, participating in the efforts of the international community, actively uses the opportunities of its neutral status to advance the peacekeeping mission, ensure global and regional security.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that the model of neutrality and the tools of preventive diplomacy are key elements of the country's foreign policy, capable of preventing conflicts and eliminating their causes.
In this context, the special significance and effectiveness of the activities of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, whose headquarters are located in Ashgabat, was also noted.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov also additionally announced that Turkmenistan had previously proposed a number of measures aimed at normalizing and improving the international situation and moving to constructive parameters of interaction.
In this regard, the country made a number of serious proposals to the UN, including an initiative to grant neutral countries the status of priority partners of the UN in its peacekeeping efforts, the statement said.
