Ashgabat hosts a two-day seminar on human rights in journalism

A two-day seminar organized by UNDP in Turkmenistan “Best Practices in Human Rights Education in Journalism” started today at the UN building in Ashgabat. Cooperation of journalists with the Office of the Ombudsman on the coverage of human rights issues in the media”.

The seminar is intended for journalists of newspapers, television, online news agencies, students of journalism faculties, representatives of public organizations of Turkmenistan and is held within the framework of the project “Providing assistance in strengthening the institutional capacity of the Office of the Ombudsman of Turkmenistan”.

The facilitator of the workshop is Ms. Stephanie Lemke, International UNDP Expert, who leads the sessions online.

Today, the participants of the event have already considered such issues as measures to protect freedom of the media, the latest developments and guidelines in this area from the experience of European and other countries. The participants worked out the acquired knowledge and skills practically through interactive games and exercises.
