Ashgabat Hosts Meeting in 15th Turkic States Elders Council Session

A meeting chaired by the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, took place during the 15th session of the Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) on March 11 of the current year, as reported by Turkmenistan's official media.

The Council of Elders meeting serves as an advisory body, consisting of elders from member countries of the OTS. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has been a member of this Council since April 2022.

The National Leader of the Turkmen People welcomed the participants to the ancient and hospitable Turkmen land and expressed sincere gratitude for the invitation to take part in the regular session of the Council of Elders of the Turkic States Organization.

He emphasized that in the current year, Turkmenistan plans to organize a series of events jointly with partner states and leading authoritative organizations at the national and international levels. The aim is to expand cultural and humanitarian exchanges, which represent one of the main directions in international relations.

During the meeting, statements were made by the Chairman of the Council of Elders Bin Ali Yildirim, the Secretary-General of the Turkic States Organization Kubanychbek Omuraliev, the member of the Council of Elders from the Republic of Kazakhstan Ikram Adyrbekov, the member of the Council of Elders from the Kyrgyz Republic Medetkan Sherimkulov, the member of the Council of Elders from the Republic of Uzbekistan Sodikjon Turdiev, and the member of the Council of Elders from Hungary Attila Lis.

Binali Yıldırım, the Chairman of the Council of Elders; Kubanychbek Omuraliev, the Secretary-General of the Turkic States Organization, and members of the Council of Elders from various countries, including Ikram Adyrbekov from the Republic of Kazakhstan, Medetkan Sherimkulov from the Kyrgyz Republic, Sodikjon Turdiev from the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Attila Lis from Hungary, made statements during the meeting.

The Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan proposed the creation of the title "Honorary Elder" for the Organization of Turkic States and a corresponding insignia.He also suggested establishing an editorial office for the Council of Elders to publish a newspaper or magazine in the future and develop a website for the Council of Elders of the Turkic States Organization.

The National Leader of the Turkmen People stated that a draft Declaration had been prepared as a result of the 15th session of the Council of Elders scheduled for March 12.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov proposed adopting this document, aimed at giving impetus to a qualitatively new level of relations between the participating countries and implementing significant initiatives for the benefit of the people.

Additionally, on Monday, the heads of delegations and guests who arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the regular session of the Council of Elders of the OTS were offered Iftar Sadaka.
