For the first time ever, Turkmenistan hosts the mega sporting event. It is a great honor and enormous responsibility. At present, the people of Turkmenistan are closely united by the spirit of sport that is also displayed in preparations of the upcoming Games’ cultural events.

Sport is movement and life! Sport is a direct path towards friendship, health and beauty! In the run up to the Games, the theme is dominant in local performing artists’ creative work. It was also the centerpiece in the program of the festive concert in the Olympic Complex organized on the open-air stage with modern graphic design.

The concert boasted the wide application of innovative technologies that enable to make the most of the combination of lighting, sounds and colors.Video clips and graphics shown on giant on-stage video screens created greater spatial dimension, and gave a feeling of greater audience engagement in the festivity.

A laser light show added an air of solemnity and luster to the event.

The concert was opened by a song and dance composition, “Geliň, dostlar Aziada!” performed by pop singers, the State Choir, and joint musical bands and groups. Then, flags of the countries participating in the Ashgabat 2017 Games appeared on stage.

The colorful performance featured sporting spectacles and elements of the Latin American dances included in the official sporting program at the Games.By changing their places, the performers were forming different words of greeting on stage and welcomed everyone to the Ashgabat 2017 Games in Turkmenistan.

The action-packed festive event embodied the richness and national identity of modern Turkmen art, a broad range of its forms and the continuity of traditions.

The concert also featured John Newmen, a pop singer, whose single “Love Me Again” peaked at number one on the UK Singles Chart in 2013.In Turkmenistan, people first met the British singer and musician at the concert organized in the Avaza National Tourist Zone in April to celebrate World Health Day.

John Newman’s lively interest in our ancient and ever-young country, its extensive preparations for the multi-sport event on the continent brought him again to Turkmenistan with its national traditions of extending generous and warm hospitality to old and new friends.
