Ashgabat will host an international hockey tournament

The international hockey tournament will take place on April 1520, 2024 in Ashgabat. The corresponding Resolution was signed by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov during a Government meeting, TDH reports.

The document was signed “in order to further strengthen friendship and brotherhood, good neighborliness between peoples, popularize physical education and sports, actively promote the principles of a healthy lifestyle in society, widely attract the younger generation to sports, as well as further increase the international sports prestige of the country.”

Let us remind you that the national hockey team of Turkmenistan will soon take part in the World Championship of Group “A” of the third division, which will be held from March 8 to 16 in Bishkek. Turkmenistan's opponents will be the teams of Kyrgyzstan, Mexico, Luxembourg, Thailand and South Africa.

For the first time, the youth team of Turkmenistan (under 18 years old) will also compete at the World Championships.The team, led by coach Maksat Atayev, will take part in the Group B tournament of the third division, which will take place on March 4-8 in Cape Town.

The rivals of the young hockey players of Turkmenistan will be the national teams of South Africa, Thailand and Hong Kong.
