According to the official Turkmen media, the President of Turkmenistan signed a Decree on holding the World Kurash Championship at the highest level.
According to the Decree, the Organizing Committee for holding the World Kurash Championship was established in the country and its composition was approved.
Turkmen athletes won 12 medals at two Asian Kurash wrestling competitions held in Hangzhou (China), the capital of the XIX Asian Summer Games, in May this year.
Kurash martial art was created in ancient times on the territory of modern Uzbekistan. The first world championship in kurash among adults was held in May 1999 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
