Athens decides to impose restrictions on the number of tourists visiting the Acropolis

From September, the Greek authorities will limit the number of visitors to the Acropolis to 20 thousand people per day, writes “Europulse”.

The excessive flow of tourists has a bad effect on the state of the ancient monument, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List - they leave a lot of garbage, in addition, tourists create serious noise pollution.

It is planned that the number of tourists to visit will be delimited by hours. For example, from 8 to 9 in the morning 3 thousand people will be able to see the attraction, and from 9 to 10 2 thousand.

The Acropolis was built in the V century BC. In those days, it housed the main temple of the goddess Athena - the Parthenon.
