Austria lifts compulsory COVID-19 vaccination

Austrian authorities are canceling compulsory vaccination against coronavirus. The country’s Health Minister Johannes Rauch made this statement.

According to the official, this measure has caused deep divisions in the Austrian society. Rauch noted that the government's increased anti-COVID policy has only deterred some citizens from being vaccinated.

As informs mir24, the “Omicron” strain also contributed to the decision to change the rules, which led to cases with milder symptoms than previous ones. In Austria, the compulsory vaccination of residents over 18 against COVID-19 came into force on February 5.
