Azerbaijan Positive About Turkmen Gas’s Transit Though Its Territory

Azerbaijan is very positive about the transit of Turkmen natural gas through its territory to foreign markets, the Report news agency reported, citing Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov as saying at a press conference on Tuesday.

He stated that the summit of the Presidents of Azerbaijan, Turkey and Turkmenistan in Avaza National Tourist Zone in December paid special attention to energy cooperation.

So far Azerbaijan has been the initiator of many projects in the energy sector, Jeyhun Bayramov noted and added that, “The issue with Turkmen gas is somewhat different, in this Azerbaijan is just a transit country. But Azerbaijan is very positive about the project for the transit of Turkmen gas through its territory."

Following the trilateral summit in Avaza, the Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu in a joint press conference with his Turkmen and Azerbaijani counterparts informed that the countries will set up a working group on the issue of transporting Turkmen gas to other markets.
