Balkan Shipyard Plans to Procure Parts From China’s Weichai

Representatives of the Shipbuilding and Repairing Yard Balkan OJSC held an online meeting on February 26, 2024, with the country director of China’s Weichai Holding Co. Ltd in Kazakhstan and company’s commercial manager.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the procurement of necessary equipment and spare parts for the dry cargo ship S. Niyazov, owned by the Marine Merchant Fleet CJSC, reported Türkmendeňizderýaýollary (Turkmen Maritime and River Roads) Agency on Tuesday.

Technical specifications and drawings of the main engine and diesel generators required for the dry cargo ship S. Niyazov were provided during the negotiations. Balkan Shipyard representatives also emphasized that the purchased equipment should be certified in accordance with the requirements of international classification societies.

At the end of the meeting, it was noted that the Chinese company would consider proposals from Balkan Shipyard, expressing confidence in the development of bilateral cooperation.

Founded in 1946 in the People's Republic of China, Weichai Holding Co. Ltd is a state-owned holding group specializing in the design and manufacture of components and spare parts for various types of machinery, including automobiles, construction and agricultural machinery, marine vessels, buses, trucks, loaders, warehouse systems, luxury yachts, power equipment, hydraulic pumps, and fuel elements.
